Recently, various workshops were organized on financial inclusion by different development organizations. Bank Asia and MicroEnsure were on the same table of a workshop, where they gave us chance to solve a case with relevant financial services and that was the commencement of a simple idea about how to integrate insurance products with the agent banking service. That idea is going to turn into reality by the launching of Projonmo and Surakkha of Bank Asia. Behind all these ideas and reality, there is a visionary person who asked to work together and that person is none other than the dynamic Managing Director of Bank Asia Mr. Arfan Ali.
“Projonmo” is the life insurance facility for school banking students of Bank Asia to reduce the dropout rate on parental death and “Surakkha” is the health insurance facility for agent banking account holders. Both the products are specially designed for agent banking channel to incorporate with their regular services. To develop these product, MicroEnsure along with Pragati Life Insurance are working to facilitate the insurance management support.
To aim a new dimension in the agent banking services Projonmo and Surakkha has launched on April 4, 2017 by Bank Asia. Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia, Mir Rashedul Hossain, Country Manager, Bangladesh of MicroEnsure and Md. Jalalul .Azim, Managing Director & CEO of Pragati Life Insurance Limited signed the agreement on behalf of respective organizations. Deputy Managing Directors of Bank Asia Humaira Azam, Muhammed Zahirul Alam, Mian Quamrul Hasan Chowdhury, Mr. Mohammad Borhanuddin and Mr. Md. Ahsan Ul Alam, Vice President & Head of Agent Banking and Ziaul Haque, General Manager of Pragati Life Insurance Limited were present among others.
The agreement signing event had very good news coverage, with daily national newspapers in both English and Bangla covering the event:
