Richard has been CEO at MicroEnsure since the company’s formation in 2006 and has been instrumental in taking MicroEnsure from providing a few thousand people, within emerging markets, to over 55 million people across 16 countries in Africa and Asia with insurance.
Starting his work in micro insurance in 2002 with Opportunity International, a leading microfinance provider from Benfield Grieg (now Aon Benfield), Richard worked as a reinsurance broker and pioneered the introduction of insurance products within the Opportunity Network which led to the establishment of MicroEnsure.
Richard has served on the steering committee of the ILO ‘Micro Insurance Innovation Fund’, a $35m fund provided by the Gates Foundation; he is a former member of the Micro Insurance Network Board and a serving non-exec board member of Micro-Bit Foundation.
Martin Fuller has been Chief Operating Officer since May 2011 having joined MicroEnsure initially as Chief Technology Officer in 2009. His background includes extensive IT and business process consulting, project/programme management and operational service delivery and improvement roles with major blue chip and public sector organisations.
His systems experience covers implementation of both large scale enterprise wide solutions and development of targeted innovative technology solutions to address specific business needs.
Previous roles include Professional Services Director with HBS and Mouchel Group plc, Transformation Director with Mouchel Group plc, and COO and co-founding director (and latterly Managing Director) of Archway Consulting Limited, a specialist eProcurement consultancy and solution implementer. He holds a First Class MA Honours and an MPhil from Cambridge University.
Since joining MicroEnsure at the beginning of 2013, Stephen spent four years as Finance Director before adding Marketing and Business Development and Business Solution functions to his role and moving to the role of Commercial Director in 2017.
Stephen has been a panellist and speaker at Africa and Global IAIS conferences in 2016 and 2017, specialising in strategies for micro insurance growth in emerging markets.
Stephen’s broad experience has been gained across finance, sales and marketing functions in multinational corporations including Hewlett Packard. Stephen qualified as a chartered accountant with C.I.M.A in 1995 and holds a Management Degree from Loughborough Business School.
Peter began his career with MicroEnsure as Country Manager – Ghana in 2010, where he first built the company’s mobile distribution strategy and product set. As Regional Director – Africa, he led a period of growth in the company’s footprint from 4 to 10 African markets and from 2 to 6 million customers.
Peter has held further roles as Marketing and Innovation Manager and focussed on innovation for the global company as Director, MicroEnsure Labs. Peter’s current role is Director of Strategy, looking at the road map for the company and defining the value proposition.
Peter holds degrees from Oxford University, Emory University and Davidson College.
Rehan joined MicroEnsure in 2013 when he pioneered the company’s business launch in Pakistan and introduced innovative products delivered through a range of distribution partners including telecommunication and financial institutions. His role was later expanded to Business Development Manager for Asia and in early 2017, assigned the responsibilities to grow new business development across operating countries as Group Business Director.
Rehan has a number of years of experience in operations management, distribution and sales in the insurance industry having been associated with AIG’s American Life and MetLife and his areas of expertise include product development, B2B distribution and channel development.
Rehan holds an MA Economics and is Associate, the Chartered Insurance Institute and Fellow, Life Office Management Institute.
