Richard Leftley, Chief Executive Officer

Richard began working in microinsurance in January 2002 after leaving Benfield Greig, a leading reinsurance intermediary, where he worked as a reinsurance broker responsible for the African account and worked in a team covering the Middle East and South East Asia.

Richard pioneered the introduction of insurance products within the Opportunity Network, which led to the establishment of the Micro Insurance Agency, which subsequently became MicroEnsure.

He is an industry expert in the field of microinsurance and has been heavily involved in the ILO “Micro Insurance Innovation Fund” – a $35m fund provided by the Gates Foundation.

Martin Fuller, Chief Operating Officer

Martin Fuller has been Chief Operating Officer since May 2011 having joined MicroEnsure initially as Chief Technology Officer in 2009. His background includes extensive IT and business process consulting, project/programme management and operational service delivery and improvement roles with major blue chip and public sector organisations.

His systems experience covers implementation of both large scale enterprise wide solutions and development of targeted innovative technology solutions to address specific business needs.

Previous roles include Professional Services Director with HBS and Mouchel Group plc, Transformation Director with Mouchel Group plc, and COO and co-founding director (and latterly Managing Director) of Archway Consulting Limited, a specialist eProcurement consultancy and solution implementer. He holds a First Class MA Honours and an MPhil from Cambridge University.

Stephen Cartwright, Finance Director

Stephen’s broad experience has been gained across finance, sales and marketing functions in multinational corporations – most recently at Hewlett Packard.

Stephen qualified as a chartered accountant with C.I.M.A in 1995 and holds a Management Degree from Loughborough Business School.

Peter Gross, Marketing Director

Peter is responsible for marketing and innovation for the global company.

Previously, as Regional Director – Africa, he led a period of growth in the company’s footprint from 4 to 10 African markets and from 2 to 6 million customers.

Peter began his career with MicroEnsure as Country Manager – Ghana in 2010, where he first built the company’s mobile distribution strategy and product set. He holds degrees from Oxford University, Emory University and Davidson College.
